9:04 pm - .:our shadows taller than our soul:.
|
First entry in a long time, and no one will likely read it but Aaron and Wendy. :D
Things are good. Just work, sleep, eat, repeat. A little play mixed in. Tennis, most recently. I'm also down almost 20 lbs since May 15th, so that's a plus.
Just hooked up our record player, at long last, since we got a receiver that actually has a phono input. Just listened to some Floyd, Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, CCR and Rush the way they were meant to be listened to.
Yay, that's it.
/And as we wind on down the road/ /Our shadows taller than our soul./ /There walks a lady we all know/ /Who shines white light and wants to show/ /How everything still turns to gold./

11:20 am - .: vote :.
|
I'm tired of people who want to vote for a party, but don't, because they don't think the party will win. What are we turning into, the USA? I've heard a few people say, "Oh, I am not voting NDP cause they won't win, so I'm going Liberal instead," and even heard, "I'm voting for Conservatives, even though I prefer NDP, because I don't want a minority government."
Honestly, vote for who you want to vote for. Any party with over 8% (I think) of the total vote gets, I think, a dollar fifty a vote. Not only that, but the more MPs that are voted in for the party you like, the more they can affect things in parliament. That's all I have to say, really.
Well, NDP was last polled at 18% of the vote. I bet if all who wanted to vote for them did, they'd probably win. Ah well.

I am in such a nostalgic video game mood, all because of Wendy.
She asked me to download the Mortal Kombat song by KMFDM, so we're sitting grooving to it, and the part comes on where they're saying Mortal Kombat names and Wendy goes "Ken!", so I then start saying Street Fighter names.
"Ken! Ryu! M Bison! E Honda!"
Oh man, those games were so cool.
Or I'm such a dork. Either way is good.

Vegetarian blues;
Wendy wants me to quit so she can make food for me again and she says I'm getting really unhealthy. I kind of concur, but I don't want to quit already. I am at a loss of what to do. Make myself a salad or go out and buy a nice, juicy, meaty Wendy's Hamburger... Mmmm..

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad, or possibly illegal.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your journal to see what people remember about you.

11:59 am - .:THIS IS A PROTEST:.
|
As the title of this entry, I've started for myself a protest. This will probably surprise those who know me, but I've decided to become a pseudo-vegetarian (IE, I still plan on eating fish.)
The reasons why are not really the standard, though. I love the taste of meat. Especially beef and pork. Mmm mmm bacon. I also don't think it's morally wrong to kill animals for food, because I actually don't really care about that. I am doing it because there are millions of people starving everyday. Some even here in North America. And I think that is ridiculous. And I remember reading, a while ago, that for ever acre of land used for raising cattle for beef, you could get something ridiculous like 2, 4, 10? times the amount of food yielded if that land was used for crops. That's fucking sick. So, therefore, I am boycotting meat. :(
I also want to say I'm disgusted in the world that the Hurricane in the US got more relief money and more news coverage than an earthquake that killed 10x the people, or a famine in Africa that is claiming even more than the earthquake.
That's it.
Obligatory song lyric. .:but i'm gonna break, gonna break my, gonna break my rusty cage and run:.

I am glad I never fell in with the goth crowd. Not because I think they're bad people, in fact I think the opposite, they just have a depressing tendency for suicide. I don't think I could deal with it if one of my good friends took their own life.
Random musings from reading what happened to one of Wendy's internet friends.
Life can be quite cruel sometimes.

11:21 pm - .:your mom goes to college:.
|
Today: Wake up, go to work. Work was alright, especially since me and another are being considered for a promotion and I got lucky with a good bunch of customers and it made me look good. Then I came home and we went to my parents house for a turkey dinner and a movie. The movie was Shaun of the Dead. I give it a 3.5/5 because the movie while wasn't the greatest the characters were really well acted and I did laugh quite a bit.
Another movie I saw recently, Napoleon Dynamite, however, gets 4.8/5, possibly the highest awardable score by me. Great movie. Though I can see why someone wouldn't like it.
In other news, I haven't been getting a huge amount of hours in work recently, due to labour budget cutbacks. And while I could really use the money, I kind of like the more leisurely pace. I think with battling for a promotion and then if I get the promotion, proving myself the right choice and maintaining the position will keep me busy for quite a while.
Anyway, I'm gonna end this now, but I promise to write more. Not for the one person who will read this but for myself.
~Brian
